NACSA_Web_Thumbnails-02Some schools that consistently and persistently fail students remain open year after year, and even when an authorizer moves to close them. One reason is authorizer shopping–an action performed by failing schools to avoid accountability by finding a new, more lax authorizer who won’t shut them down.

Through a national forum and interviews with the nation’s leading authorizers, this project describes promising practices for policymakers, authorizers, support organizations, advocates and community members to make sure students are not allowed to stay in schools that fail them.
