Statewide Authorizer Legislation

NACSA believes that statewide, independent authorizers can provide an excellent infrastructure for high-quality charter school authorizing. They have statewide jurisdiction to expand educational opportunities and are focused solely on charter school authorizing.  A number of states and the District of Columbia now have statewide independent authorizers in place.  NACSA has prepared the following model legislation for consideration by legislatures interested in strengthening the quality and quantity of charter schools in their state.
