The 2011 NACSA Leadership Conference is the destination for inspiring, thought-provoking plenary sessions focused on strengthening our nation’s public education system. Attendees of this year’s conference will be treated to five plenaries featuring many of the most prominent and respected leaders in education reform. Each of these keynote panel discussions will explore emerging trends and the future of the charter school movement.

Large and In Charge of Education
Achievement-focused teacher and school leadership effectiveness; rewarding excellence and replacing failure with success; high academic standards; transparent and rigorous accountability; and viable options for all students are the principles that guide these leaders in their work. Chiefs for Change will discuss how charter authorizing in their states play an integral role in closing the achievement gap.

Are We There Yet?
From creating new public school models that mirror charter accountability and autonomy, to aggressively growing their portfolio of quality schools, authorizers have made a strong mark on the public education landscape. This plenary session features leaders who have actively pushed the sector and influenced the public's thinking on education. Statewide Authorizers: Growth, Challenges, and Opportunities
The 2011 legislative cycle experienced the creation of new statewide authorizers as well as the removal of the Georgia Commission. In this plenary session, participants will hear from new, existing as well as the former Executive Director of the Georgia Commission of Charter Schools on the various risks and opportunities of statewide authorizing.
